Yes, actually it is an amazing concept! The local taxi company has done that here with several cabs. They are all Mercedes, specially made to run on that fuel specifically. They get the used oil from restaurants and such locally, and convert it right there at the cab company with some special machine. It is combined with a fuel additive, a viola'--major recycling!! Who'd thunkit?!?! Remember Back To The Future--well I'd say they were on to something then, because the time is now. you can't convert it into gas, but you can convert into diesel. It's called Biodiesel. I saw an eppisode of ';Trucks'; and they claim that it actually produced more horsepower than diesel from the pump (from oil). Basically you hydrolyze fatty esters, then convert them to the methyl esters. If you search the internet for ';Biodiesel'; you'll get plenty of information.
