no the taste of the olive oil is too strong it would make the cake taste horrible. if you dont have vegetable oil use canola oilCould i use olive oil instead of vegetable oil to bake a cake?
In Italy, many cake recipes use olive oil. The difference here is the flavor of the oil. Canola or vegetable oil is preferred in cakes because it has a neutral flavor. Extra virgin olive oil usually has a peppery flavor. Plain olive oil may be closer to a neutral flavor and would probably be your best bet.Could i use olive oil instead of vegetable oil to bake a cake?
Henry Z, of course you can, you said olive oil not extra virgin olive oil, there is a difference in taste and flavor, contrary to popular belief, you are taught alternatives in some instances at culinary school.
Chris
In Italy they do, regular rather than extra virgin olive oil would be less noticeable. The cake recipe I remember was more like a pound cake but baked in a round pan and had some corn meal though not a lot and also pine nuts and was sprinkled with powdered sugar.
No, the olive oil flavor is too strong to use in place of veggie oil.
not unless you want a cake that tastes like olives.
