NO! canola oil is made from rapeseed which is HARMFUL to humans. Canola is a made up word combining canada and oil. threes an enormous industry in canada that sells rapeseed oil as fuel, machine lubricant, soap, and synthetic rubber. This is what you are ingesting, please buy real vegetable oil for your own sake. Canola causes anemia, breathing problems, constipation, irritability. Is it alright to use canola oil in place of Vegetable oil for an Italian Bread recipe.?
When I make homemade pizza dough, the recipe calls for extra virgin olive oil. I have used a variety of different oils, and even a combination of oil and butter when I was in a pinch. I have to say other than the dough being slightly more dense. No one really noticed I changed a thing!
Yes, it is.

In this case, you may substitute any kitchen oil except the very specialized flavored oils like walnut oil, sesame oil, etc.

Any of the big-bottle oils will do fine, most especially Canola.
It's probably OK but I have found in the past that canola oil can have a fishy taste, especially if exposed to high temperatures. I don't buy it anymore, but use safflower instead.
