Where does vegetable oil get its name?

while shopping for groceries yesterday i got to looking at all of the cooking oils. corn oil - made from corn, peanut oil - from peanuts, olive oil -from olives, canola oil -from canola, sunflower oil -from sunflowers, etc........

why is soy bean oil called ';vegetable oil';?Where does vegetable oil get its name?
In the U.S., the USDA Standard of Identity for a product labeled as vegetable oil specifies that only canola, safflower, sunflower, corn, soybean, or peanut oil may be used. Oils labeled vegetable oil may be, and often are, a mixture of two or more than these oils. Products not labeled vegetable oil do not have that restriction.Where does vegetable oil get its name?
because soy beans fall under the category of vegetables.

.
just a more appetizing way to think of such an oil. some people would see soybean oil and think health food.
