Yes. Castor oil comes from the castor bean. Food grade castor oil can be used in food additives, flavorings and as a mold inhibitor. However, it's more commonly recognized for its medicinal purposes (as a laxative, for example).
Vegetable oil generally comes from soy beans, and is the stuff you commonly find in your home kitchen.
Edit: By the way, not all vegetable oils are created equally. Modern processors extract the oil from the bean using chemical solvents, such as petroleum-derived hexane, which speeds up the process and creates higher yields. My household uses organic expeller-pressed oils, extracted using traditional mechanical methods. Is there a difference between Castor oil and vegetable oil?
Yes, castor oil is inedible oil from a vegetable source (castor beans). It is a very heavy and thick oil. It is sometimes used in food but you shouldn't use it to cook with as you would vegetable oil. Castor oil is a VERY good laxative. Vegetable oil is usually a blend of edible oils from a plant source (cottonseed, safflower seed, corn, etc) and is used extensively for cooking. So please don't cook with the castor oil!Is there a difference between Castor oil and vegetable oil?
Fish oil vs vegetable based oil (probably mostly corn and soy).
Spelling?
