What vegetables are in vegetable oil and is there such a thing as fruit oil?

In the U.S., if it's called ';vegetable oil'; it's usually soybean oil. There are lots of other vegetable oils, but they are usually labeled using a different name. Canola, corn, cottonseed, safflower, peanut, sesame.

You really shouldn't use vegetable oil. Try Canola or a new product called Enova. It has the same number of calories as vegetable oil and tastes pretty similar but it has naturally occurring fats instead of triglyceride fats. There's an article about it online:

Oil is made from seeds. There are thousands of seeds which can and are used for producing vegetable oils.





The most common are Sunflower, Rape and peanut





Palm oil production is expanding rapidly. Used in cheaper cakes and biscuits.





Olive oil is made from the olive seed not the fruit.

read the ingredient label. usually it's soybean oil. they have to disclose what it's made of on the label.





fyi, olive oil is NOT made from the pits of olives. the whole fruit is pressed. the goal is to crush the fruit, but not the pits.
Vegetable oils are made from the oil... so veggies arent actually in it. Oils are made by processing the vegetable and pressing it to release its oils. Olives are technically a fruit but their oil is still considered a veggie oil.

If you pop into a specialist catering shop, you can find all sorts of oils - even grapeseed oil. Grape are a fruit.
these days it is usually rapeseed but you can get pure corn oil





not sure about fruit oil - is a nut a fruit? - you can get almond oil
its actually derived from palm fruit!olives are fruits...so is coconut...nutmeg oil if im not mistaken is used for making hair tonic in some countries...
Oil is squeezed out of things like peanuts (hence the term 'vegetable oil'). Good question.
In the US, vegetable oil is just another name for soybean oil.
