Has it been proven that used, sifted vegetable oil can be recyled into deisel fuel for autos?

Heard it was featured on ';Mythbusters'; as possible, is it?Has it been proven that used, sifted vegetable oil can be recyled into deisel fuel for autos?
Yup, it's possible. The only downside is that your miles per gallon plummet since it's not refined fuel.

I'm sure in the long run it's not good for your engine either.Has it been proven that used, sifted vegetable oil can be recyled into deisel fuel for autos?
They make a kit that will turn used oil into diesel. First you place it in a large vat that has a stirring mechanism and you add lye to the grease. This will break down the lard and it will settle after a few hours. Then you simply drain out the lard out the bottom until clean oil comes out. This can be then filtered or run straight into the vehicle. Nice thing is your vehicle's exhaust smells like whatever was last fried in it. mmm, french fries :)

This kit was shown on the TV show Trucks! and retails for a few grand, one of the perks is better performance and less smoke. they claim you can make fuel at 70 cents per gallon.
yes - it has to be processed before it can be used as fuel in a diesel engine - best mixture is b20 which is 20% veggie oil and 80% petroleum diesel - this makes biodiesel which is infinitely better than straight diesel - I am a truck driver and bio-diesel as they call it is slowly gaining momentum and works real well - it will enhance perfomrance without any wrenching and also increase fuel mileage thereby saving you money at the pumps by going farther before yo have to fillup
Yes it is possible don't recommend it though.
yes its not only possible,,but is being used right now as we sit here,,and is getting more popular by the day,,and it does burn just as good as diesel fuel,,it wont be long before there will be less demand for the actual diesel fuel,,and the good thing about it,,its a renewable supply of fuel,,i hope this helps.
Yes, in the UK some of our police use cars run on this fuel. I'm afraid I don't know the details of how, but I have been told it actually makes for a cleaner engine, if slightly smellier.
Sure, if you treat the oil properly and don't mind working with toxic chemicals.

Also, most cars using waste oil of this type need to have a dual fuel system since you can't really start a cold diesel engine very well on vegetable oil, be it ';treated'; or not. So you start with regular diesel, warm up the engine, and switch to french fry oil!

Also you MUST learn how to spell ';diesel';.

Basically my opinion is yeah, it can be done, but you really need to be unemployed or 18 or 65 years old---I mean, who has the time for this?
Yes. A growing number of people are using this as their fuel source.
YES
